Program Summary
 
Diversity Dialogues are facilitated discussions surrounding the traveling exhibit ‘RACE: Are We So Different?”  These discussions will allow audiences to participate and reflect on their experiences in learning about and experiencing race as a factor in their lives and community.  The Diversity Dialogues program was developed and based upon “The Talking Circles’ facilitated discussions started at the Science Museum of Minnesota - http://www.smm.org/race/talkingcircle/
 
The Experience
 
The experience will be held at the Pink Palace Museum and will have two parts.
 
·         Part 1 will occur in the RACE exhibit where the audience will experience the exhibit.  This will last approximately one hour.   It is designed to be a self-guided experience and audience members will be encouraged to absorb as much information as possible during that time with limited discussions among the group;
 
·         Part 2 will occur in the museum board room or a classroom and will be facilitated by Common Ground.  Specific programming details will allow a safe place for to explore issues of race, diversity and discrimination.  The facilitated dialogue will last about 2 hours depending upon the group.
 
·         Each session is limited to a max. of 20 people.
